The North Carolina A&T State University Annual Fund is the yearly appeal that A&T makes to all alumni, parents, and friends for unrestricted funds that can be used immediately to meet the University's most important needs and opportunities?including support for existing scholarship programs, financial assistance to needy students; student activities; faculty and staff development.
For decades, North Carolina A&T State University has relied on the support and generosity of alumni, parents, and friends. Gifts usually represent 2% to 5% of the individual donor's annual income and have a direct impact on the quality of a North Carolina A&T education. Some give because they want to give something back to the university that made a difference in their education or professional success. Some give because they want to make a difference in the lives of other students, and some give as a personal challenge to or from their peers. Whatever the reason, giving is one of the best ways for alumni and friends to ensure that our legacy continues for generations to come.
Unfortunately, a lot of alumni never give back. However, here are several important facts on why alumni and friends should give back:
v 90% of students are on some type of financial aid.
v Only 15% of A&T alumni of record made a gift last year (3,585 out of approximately 24,000). Where is our "AGGIE PRIDE?"
v At present, the state provides less than 35% of the funds needed to provide our students with the high quality education to which A&T is committed.
v The State of North Carolina has cut $22 million from A&T's budget over the past three years.
But in spite of all of that, A&T continues to grow with the completion of the 30,000 square foot Alumni-Foundation Event Center that features an elegant ballroom and a stunning 20-foot mural by Joseph Holston and the new $21.8-million science building that will house the Chemistry and Psychology Departments that feature state-of-the-art laboratories and classrooms. Also under construction is a $6-million three to four level parking deck that will hold up to 500 cars and the new $14-million Renick School of Education Building that will house the School of Education offices and classrooms. This state-of-the-art facility has already won two design awards.
A&T has, is and will always be on the cutting edge but she cannot continue to go it alone. No gift is ever too small; therefore, please give generously to our beloved alma mater.
